Resolving to be in service to others
On Sundays I hike – today I found myself on a solo hike in CT during a visit to my sister-in-law’s for NYE.
To say that starting the final day of 2023, alone in the woods for 3 hours over 7 miles, surrounded by gorgeous woodland with a good portion of the hike riverside was pure bliss would be an understatement.
Here’s what struck me on today’s hike – tomorrow starts a new week, a new month and a new year – talk about the ultimate reset!
And reset I did – when you’re connected to nature it’s bound to happen.
I also found myself looking back at 2023 – reviewing the highs and the lows AND looking forward to 2024 and the plans I see for my life.
While I’m not one for resolutions, today I thought long and hard about what I most want from my life in the New Year.
Here’s where I landed.
I resolved not to do something for myself, but to do it for others.
My NYE resolution will be to help twice as many people as I did in 2023.
How am I defining help?
Help could be as simple as offering a smile to a stranger who might be having a hard time.
It could also mean doing random acts of kindness.
Or reaching out to a friend with whom I haven’t connected in a bit.
I also see help as working with more clients in my business.
Ultimately, I define help as serving others in my life in any way I can.
As for defining twice….well, I have ZERO idea how many people I helped in 2023 (outside of clients).
So I am going to define TWICE as being intentionally curious each day about the world around me.
In doing so, I can also be intentionally helpful to those around me.
So here’s to you and yours on this New Year’s Eve.
May you close the books on 2023 and open your heart to 2024.
And never forget – every step has purpose and every step is intentional.
